Last evening I found myself trying on and dismissing several of my cocktail dresses. I would normally be excited to attend a fun party but no matter what I tried last night I could not feel comfortable. It took me seven outfit changes before I looked at myself in the mirror critically and realized a dreadful fact; winter season's extra pounds had already made their way onto my arms and thighs.
Most of us gain a few pounds during winter. It seems that as the temperature begins to drop, so does our healthy lifestyle. It starts with the cold mornings that make it harder for us to wake up and make it to our gym session. We rather take a taxi or public transportation to go to work, we drive instead of walking. Getting a hot chocolate or our favorite coffee on the way to work feels so comforting that we forget to say "no whip cream." When we return home is usually dark outside and we just sit in front of the TV to vegetate for long hours before going to bed. These are just a few on a list of unhealthy habits that we seem to condone during the winter season.
Getting back to last night, I only felt comfortable wearing my "body con dress" over a pair of black slimming tights with an oversized cardigan on top. Slimming tights fool me into thinking I still had my summer figure and an oversized cardigan took care of the chubbier arms. I didn't look so bad after all; it ended up being quite a chic outfit once accessorized with some chunky jewelry.
There was, however, one problem with my outfit choice for the evening. If I continue hiding the extra winter pounds under comfort clothes, by the time the sun shines again I'm going to spend the whole of spring and summer trying to loose weight. I have decided to take action and stop blaming the cold weather for my lazy winter lifestyle. This time I am having a slim winter that will assure I have a hot body for the summer.
