Elvis has lost the building

The Las Vegas Strip is teeming with Spidermen, Elmos and Elvis Presleys of all waistlines.

Nevada's woeful economy has inspired dozens of jobless and underemployed men and women to dress up like celebrities, movie characters and cartoon heroes in pursuit of a buck.
In the past year, fat and fit Elvises, as well as would-be Homer Simpsons, Mad Hatters, and Batmen, have set up shop on bustling sidewalks across this city of vice and excess, offering tourists the chance to pose for a snapshot with someone who kind of looks famous. The gratuity-driven performances have created tension between Las Vegas' mighty gambling industry and free-speech advocates who defend the constitutional rights of adults in spandex pants, rainbow wigs and foam muscles.
Casino titans, and government officials who understand where their tax revenue comes from, have eyed the street performers with alarm and, at times, called in police intervention. The Venetian on the Las Vegas Strip allegedly detained a man dressed like Zorro last year after he posed for a tourist's camera on a public sidewalk bordering the hotel-casino. More recently, the city council relaxed its restrictions on street performers because of legal threats.
"Sometimes the mentality is what's good for the casinos is what's good for Las Vegas, and there is a tendency to forget we are in the United States," said Allen Lichtenstein, general counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union in Nevada. "The Constitution protects expressive activity."
Lichtenstein is representing Zorro, legally known as Jason Perez-Morciglio, in a lawsuit against the Venetian. The lawsuit contends Perez-Morciglio was walking in his Zorro garb across Las Vegas Boulevard last year when a passer-by asked for a picture with him and to hold his sword.

at Horrible Bosses premiere

The Charmed actress, who is due to give birth any day now, was glowing in a black fitted floor-length dress which showed off her burgeoning baby bump.
Jennifer Love Hewitt's figure looked fabulous in a rust Herve Leger bandage dress, but she let the look down with her mismatched accessories, including baby orange Hermes Kelly bag and metallic platform shoes.Going conservative was former Dharma & Greg star Jenna Elfman, who wore black trousers and braces over a white shirt.Sold out! Kate's $1,200 Wimbledon dress is a hit. With her co-stars and celebrity guests by her side, Jennifer was beaming on her big night. But her blossoming relationship with Theroux is also sure to be a big contributing factor for her glow.
As days go by it seems that the actress is becoming more and more open about her current love life. Early in the week on Good Morning America she spoke of her new relationship with Theroux for the first time - though she declined to actually name her beau.
Appearing on the breakfast show to plug Horrible Bosses, in which she plays a kinky dentist, she said she was 'very happy' in her personal life, and added: 'I'm extremely lucky and extremely happy.'And when Jennifer got the name 'Norman' tattooed on her foot last week - a tribute to her late dog who died this year- it also sparked speculation that she might have been influenced to get the etching by her new edgy boyfriend who has a penchant for ink.Jennifer's representative confirmed to Life & Style that the star has indeed taken the plunge.
It's quite a departure for the wholesome actress, who has only worn a temporary tattoo of a heart on her stomach in the past, and that was to play the kooky titular lead in Along Came Polly.A tattoo of any sort, in fact, seems quite incongruous to her classic style and is more associated with Angelina Jolie. But her new boyfriend is heavily tattooed, one of his tattoos reads 'Odi et Amo,' which translates to 'I hate and I love.'

Sold out! Kate's $1,200 Wimbledon dress is a hit

The Duchess of Cambridge has sold out yet another designer dress. In a trip to Wimbledon to watch British tennis hopeful Andy Murray, the newlywed donned a white pleated sleeveless three-tiered dress by Temperley, by London’s Alice Temperley.

It took only 30 minutes for the frock to disappear online.
“Unfortunately we've now sold out of the Moriah Dress but we have plenty of other Temperley London pieces in, so be sure to get them now before they dissapear (sic).Radiant Square Mermaid Dress holding Embroidery. You may not get the press attention that Kate does, but you'll definitely turn heads,” read the message on the cSee online store. The dress isn't listed on Temperley's U.K. site.
It is not known if Kate paid full price for the frock -- $1,272 -- or if she picked it up in the summer sale for $632. The Moraiah dress is still available in black on the designer’s U.S. website for $660. Kate paired the dress with nude heels she has been seen in several times.
Her unofficial endorsement is proving to be the best advertising U.K. designers and brands can get. Practically every dress she wears, regardless of the price, sells out online within minutes, including the $1,040 Burberry coat she wore on a trip to Ireland in March.
Photos of the duchess wearing a Reiss bandage dress while meeting Michelle Obama in May prompted a run on the store’s site, crashing it for several hours.
Monday marked Kate’s first time sitting in the royals’ box at Wimbledon, although it isn’t her first time at the tournament. The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club recently displayed a thank-you note that Kate sent in 2008 – spelling mistake and all.
“Thank you for your kind hospitality at Wimbledon last week,” she wrote. “My friend and I had such a fantastic time and it was great to be able to enjoy the day knowing that we could have a little peace and quite (sic) if things got a little too hectic.”
